Keeping up to speed with broadband …

June 25th, 2010

Fast broadband connections are increasing important for businesses and home users alike. Service providers are having to consider innovative ways of satisfying their customers’ expectations. Although the deployment of fibre may be economic in areas of high population density, other regions still have to rely on existing telephone lines for broadband. Dynamic spectrum management provides a way of increasing the speed of broadband over copper wires.

PTT has just released an updated version of its online “DSL systems” course which now covers this important subject.

PTT supplies BT Group

January 5th, 2010

PTT online telecommunications training courses have been chosen to be part of the innovative, award-winning BT apprenticeship scheme.

Operating in more than 170 countries, BT is one of the world’s  leading providers of communications solutions and services and is the UK’s second largest employer of apprentices.
BT has taken a blended learning approach to its apprenticeship programme which consists of a combination of workshops, online courses and college work. Apprentices also benefit from on-the-job training and hands-on practical experience.

After independent evaluation PTT’s e-learning courses have now been added to the mix to support the attainment of the technical certificate part of the programme. By giving a more prominent role to online learning, BT is able to reduce the time its employees are away from their workplace while giving them more control over their learning.

PTT is an independent company based in the UK which specialises in developing online learning for technicians and engineers in the telecommunications and ICT sectors.

Bob Nott, PTT’s Managing Director, said today “We are aware of the high standard of BT’s existing training provision so we are very proud that our e-learning courses have been selected to enhance their training delivery. The selection of PTT courses is independent validation of their quality and close match to the requirements of the technical aspects of the telecommunications apprenticeship training programme.”
