Telecommunications apprenticeship frameworks

Frameworks for the IT and telecommunications sector are issued by the Tech Partnership with input from employers. It is expected that the telecommunications apprenticeship frameworks specified below will continue to be followed by apprenticeships until suitable Telecoms related standards are developed.
The elements of an IT and telecoms framework include...

Apprenticeship levels
An apprenticeship programme will be at one of three levels:
1 - Intermediate Level Apprenticeships
Apprentices work towards a work-based Level 2 competence qualification such as the "Level 2 Certificate in ICT Systems Support", and a knowledge-based Level 2 qualification such as the "Level 2 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles".
2 - Advanced Level Apprenticeships
Apprentices work towards a work-based Level 3 competence qualification such as the "Level 3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence", and a relevant Level 3 knowledge-based qualification such as the "Level 3 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles".
3 - Higher Apprenticeships
Apprentices undertake a framework at Level 4 and above which will include a competence based qualification, and a broader vocationally related qualification which could be a Foundation degree.

Delivering the knowledge element
PTT courses can be used to support the achievement of the BTEC qualification as part of a blended learning strategy. Such an approach will minimise the time spent by staff away from their workplace while allowing trainees to study at their own pace. For more information, please contact PTT.
