This course describes the capabilities and structure of network management systems and discusses network maintenance.

Prerequisite:

An understanding of the basic principles of SDH and the payload capabilities of SDH signals. The study of the learntelecoms courses "SDH principles" and "SDH payloads" is recommended.

Role of SDH alarm indicators including RDI, REI and AIS.

Functions and capabilities of SDH test equipment.
