PTT is considering developing e-learning courses covering the following topics. Please indicate your interest in each of these topics by indicating how many within your orginisation would require training in that subject (if of no interest please enter 0): 1. Gigabit Ethernet inc. IEEE 802.3 standards; use of Ethernet in a next generation network (NGN); provision of a managed, traceable point-to-point Ethernet tunnel across a network; Provider Backbone Transport (PBT) standards. 2. Next Generation Networks (NGN) - IP-based service provision, structures of NGNs; role of MPLS, Ethernet, SDH, and WDM in an NGN; network management issues; migration of existing services to IP-based service provision; resilience and quality of service issues. 3. Office communications - Introducting the benefits, features and advantages of telecommunications services and equipment for businesses. This course will describe and compare conventional PABX and Voice over IP telephony systems, Centrex services, wide area networks, virtual private networks, leased line services, and broadband access using fibre, copper (DSL) and radio (WiMAX and Wifi). 4. Advanced Voice over IP inc: security issues in VoIP systems; Network Address Translation (NAT) and firewall issues; issues relating to the interworking of VoIP systems with the PSTN inc. PINT and SPIRIT services, use of SIGTRAN, and ENUM translation of E164 (telephone numbers) to IP addresses. (Note: PTT already offers a VoIP course covering principles, components and protocols such as SIP and H.323 – details on our course catalogue) 5. Mobile television including DVB-H and DAB systems.
