
The Mobile suite includes a course that covers systems conforming to the GSM specification and a course covering UMTS (3G) networks.
The three integrated courses in the Mobile suite are aimed at technical staff involved in designing, installing or maintaining mobile radio systems.

GSM radio systems
UMTS (3G) radio networks
The first Mobile course explains those principles that are fundamental to the operation of mobile systems. The topics covered include the concept of mobile radio cells, mobility issues including handover, radio link impairments, and security considerations. The course also provides an overview of the various types of modern mobile radio system.
The second course covers the concepts, structure, operation and service offerings of radio networks conforming to the GSM specification. The principles and operation of a GPRS data service are also discussed in detail.
The final Mobile course provides an in depth discussion of networks conforming to the UMTS (3G) specification and covers the concepts, structure and operation of 3G networks. The types of service offered by 3G now and possible service developments in the future are also explored.
The Mobile courses are fully integrated. Revision links are provided in each chapter which take the trainee to relevant sections in the other Mobile courses as well as the current course. The trainee can also place his/her own bookmarks which are accessible from any of the courses.
