BT has taken a blended learning approach to its apprenticeship programme which consists of a combination of workshops, online courses and college work. Apprentices also benefit from on-the-job training and hands-on practical experience.

PTT's e-learning courses support the attainment of the technical certificate part of the programme. By giving a more prominent role to online learning, BT is able to reduce the time its employees are away from their workplace while giving them more control over their learning.
